How Long Does Custom Apparel Sampling Take?

Two milestones decide your sample date: a visual proof within 24 hours and a physical pre-production sample in 5–7 business days. What moves either one, and what does not.

Short answer: expect a visual proof within 24 hours and a physical pre-production sample in 5–7 business days after the specification is signed off. Shipping transit is separate and confirmed per destination. If a supplier will not put those two dates in writing, that is the first risk.
Milestone one: the visual proof — 24 hours
A digital mockup with your artwork, colors and logo placement, before anything is cut or printed. It exists to kill wrong assumptions cheaply: placement, proportion, color code. You approve it or correct it — nothing proceeds on a description.

Milestone two: the physical sample — 5–7 business days
A pre-production sample made to the approved specification: correct fabric weight, decoration method, labels and packing. This is the piece you sign off against — bulk is checked against it at AQL 2.5, not against a photo.
What moves the dates
• Decoration changes after proof approval — each restart costs its setup again
• Branding elements added late (woven labels, hangtags, branded packaging)
• Specialty fabric that is not in stock
• Approval speed on your side — the clock restarts at every revision
Which sample route fits
Reviewing materials before choosing? A sample kit from $39 or $79. Approving your actual project? A custom project sample, quoted individually. Both are on the
sample kit page
; send artwork and destination through the
quote form
and the proof clock starts the same day.
